Bilingual Drafting Designer & Project Coordinator
Location: Montreal, QC | Salary Range: $80K + up to 15% Bonus (~$92K OTE) | On-site | Full-time Permanent | Minimal travel
Role Overview
Bilingual Staffing Solutions has partnered with an established Canadian engineering solutions firm specializing in custom analyzers, sample conditioning systems, and process instrumentation to find their next Drafting Designer & Project Coordinator. Based out of the Montrea design floor, this is a hybrid technical role for a bilingual designer who is energized by real, complex projects: producing 2D and 3D drawings of electrical and mechanical components while coordinating internal execution from PO through ship. You will work directly with experienced engineering leadership on a tight-knit, long-tenured team where variety keeps you engaged and structure helps you deliver consistently.
Core Responsibilities
Drafting & Design
Produce 2D and 3D drawings for electrical and mechanical components using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Manage drawings through review and approval cycles across a typical 12–16 week project lifecycle from PO to ship
Support 10–15 active projects per year, typically juggling 2–3 in parallel at various stages
Apply strong drafting fundamentals across both disciplines to deliver complete, manufacturable designs
Project Coordination
Coordinate internal project execution — purchasing, scheduling, and inter-departmental handoffs
Liaise with clients on technical clarifications and project status (primarily on the coordination side)
Track active projects using Excel and Gantt-based workflows to keep deliverables on schedule
Work alongside engineering, field technicians, and shop builders to deliver complete systems
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with senior engineering leadership to translate technical requirements into drawings and build packages
Support purchasing and production with accurate BOMs, POs, and production orders via the ERP
Maintain alignment between design intent, build execution, and customer expectations
Process & Delivery Excellence
Operate within established design and project workflows while contributing to continuous improvement
Maintain technical accuracy and version discipline across drawings and revisions
Support smooth handoffs between drafting, build, and field deployment phases
Required Experience
5–8 years of drafting and design experience, with strong fundamentals in both 2D and 3D
Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD (Inventor experience also welcome — the principles transfer)
Comfortable drafting both electrical and mechanical components
Fully bilingual French / English, including technical engineering vocabulary in both languages
Able to lift up to 50 lbs
ERP exposure — Microsoft Business Central is a strong asset — for managing POs, BOMs, and production orders
Industry experience in process instrumentation, gas analyzers, or sample conditioning systems is a strong plus but not required
Post-secondary education in Mechanical/Electrical Design, Drafting Technology, or a related discipline an asset
Candidate Profile
Hands-on technical designer who thrives at the intersection of drafting precision and project coordination
Comfortable managing concurrent projects without losing detail
Strong communicator across disciplines — engineering, shop floor, and clients
Bilingual operator who can move fluidly between French and English in technical contexts
Meticulous, organized, and accountable for deliverables end-to-end
Collaborative team member energized by a stable, long-tenured engineering environment
On-site role with flexible start times — Monday to Friday, no weekends, minimal travel
